Kampala – The Ministry of Education and Sports has embarked on a massive recruitment drive aimed at hiring over 2,800 teachers and non-teaching staff for 91 seed schools across the country.
The recruitment drive is seen as a major boost to the education sector, which has been facing a shortage of qualified teachers. The new school term is set to begin soon, and the government is racing against time to ensure that all schools have adequate staff.
According to the Education Service Commission, the schools have been grouped into clusters to make it easier for eligible candidates to apply. This move is expected to simplify the application process and reduce the burden on candidates who may have to travel long distances to apply.
The commission’s chairperson, Professor Samuel Luboga, announced the development while addressing journalists in Kampala. He said the recruitment drive is part of the government’s efforts to improve the quality of education in the country.
In addition to the recruitment drive, the government is also planning to construct 259 new seed schools in three phases. The project is part of the government’s efforts to improve the education infrastructure in the country.
The construction of new schools is expected to provide better learning facilities for thousands of students. The government has said that the new schools will be equipped with modern facilities, including classrooms, laboratories, and libraries.
The recruitment drive and school construction project are expected to have a major impact on the education sector in Uganda. The government has said that it is committed to improving the quality of education in the country and providing better opportunities for students.
