
The Academic Registrar of Makerere University has announced the opening of online applications for government sponsorship to public universities and other tertiary institutions in Uganda for the 2025/2026 academic year.
Applications will be accepted from Advanced Level (UACE) students with UNEB centre numbers. The online application system, accessible via the Academic Management Information System, will be open from November 4, 2024, to December 31, 2024.
Students can apply to nine public universities, including Makerere University, Makerere University Business School, Mbarara University of Science and Technology, Kyambogo University, Gulu University, Busitema University, Muni University, Kabale University, and Lira University, as well as other participating tertiary institutions.
To apply, students must provide their bio-data, father’s information, mother’s information, home district information, disability information (if applicable), O’ Level index number and year of sitting, A’ Level index number and year of sitting, national merit choices, district quota choices, tertiary institutions choices, and subject combinations.
A non-refundable application fee of UGX 52,000 (approximately $14 USD) per applicant will be paid using a Payment Reference Number generated from the system. Applicants must submit their applications by December 31, 2024.
A user guide is available on the online application portal and the Makerere University website. School administrators have received training on the online application system.
