KAMPALA, Uganda — The Formidables Swim Club will host its inaugural Formidables Swim Gala on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Waves Fitness Harbour on the Ntinda–Kiwatule Road. The event is open to the public and will feature competitive swimming and entertainment.
Organizers expect over 350 athletes from eight Masters swim teams across East Africa, making it Uganda’s largest Masters swimming event to date. More than 200 swimmers are scheduled to compete in over 35 categories.
The gala will run from 1 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will be followed by an after-party with DJs, a cocktail bar, and a barbecue.
“Our club is about perfecting technique, fostering community, and having fun,” said Peter Ssebanakitta, captain of Formidables Swim Club. “This event is not just a competition—it’s a celebration of fitness, family, and friendship. Whether you swim, cheer, or just come to enjoy the atmosphere, there’s a place for you.”
Louis David Wolimbwa, head coach of Formidables Swim Club, said, “Our athletes have trained rigorously for this meet, and we anticipate a day full of record-breaking performances and unforgettable memories. It’s a chance to witness East Africa’s Masters swimmers at their very best.”
Tickets are available online and at the entrance for 10,000 Ugandan shillings ($2.70) for spectators and 50,000 Ugandan shillings ($13.50) for swimmers.
The Formidables Swim Club was founded in 2018 by a group of swimmers at Nob View Hotel and is affiliated with Uganda Aquatics.
