Former Rubaga RCC Burora charged for harassing Speaker

KAMPALA – Buganda Road Magistrates Court has charged former Rubaga Division Deputy Resident City Commissioner (RCC) Anderson Burora with charges of promoting hate speech and Spreading malicious information all relating to the Speaker of Parliament Rt Hon Annet Anita Among.

Burora has pleaded not guilty to all the three counts which have been read to him.

Burora was picked from his home located in Ntinda Kigowa Nakawa Division, Kampala Division on Monday by Police officers who drove him to Kira Police Station before bringing him to Central Police station in Kampala.

Prosecution contends that Anderson Burora Hebert between March 2024 and June 2024 in the areas of Kampala District or thereabout, while using a Computer via X handle @harderHB”, shared information which is likely to ridicule. Or degrade or, demean and promote hostility against a person to wit Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, the Speaker of Parliament, of the Republic of Uganda

Its further alleged that Anderson Burora Hebert between March 2024 and June 2024 in the areas of Kampala District or thereabout, while using a Computer via X handle “@harderHB”, shared Malicious Information relating to the Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, the Speaker of Parliament, of the Republic of Uganda.

 

How it started

During an online Campaign of promoting accountability in Parliament entitled “UgandaParliamentExhbition” a lot of queries were raised on how tax payers’ money was being spent in the August house.

Burora was among the people who felt concerned and decided to join the exhibition concentrating mostly on Speaker’s expenditures.

Later on he was warned by the office of the President which was his supervisors against violating Public Service standing orders.

Later, on March 14 he was suspended by the Secretary to the Office of the President, Haji Yunusu Kakande and thus turned to advocating for accountability of tax payer’s money.
