BUGIRI -Famers and Traders under Bugiri Agribusiness Institutions Development Association (BAIDA) in Eastern Uganda have commended SASAKAWA Africa Association for improving their lives through sensitization on smart agriculture as well as providing them with high-yielding seedlings.
These noted that on top of that, they have provided them with a ready market for their produce which has increased their earnings.
Moses Makaka, the Chairperson for BAIDA says that SASAKAWA’s Sensitization has not only helped farmers to increase production, but it has also improved post-harvesting handling which has created more demand for their produce.
Some of the Maize flour produced by the Maize mill is being prepared for the market. This Farmers group, which consists of over 2700 registered members, has just received a maize milling plant which has supported them in value addition on their produce.
Christine Kyomugisha, Sasakawa Africa Association Program’s manager Regenerative Agriculture, has asked farmers in Bugiri to focus on commercial farming rather than insisting on subsistence farming.
She further tipped them on how to store their food safe from Aflatoxins and contamination which can be harmful to their health.
