KAMPALA — Vice President Jessica Alupo has tested positive for COVID-19, this website has learnt.
Alupo has exhibited no symptoms and will isolate at home, a source familiar with the development added on Tuesday.
The Vice President spent last week in Lusaka, Zambia where she represented President Museveni at the 22nd Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa ( COMESA) Summit.
Alupo who held bilateral talks on the sidelines of Comesa Summit with Zambian President, Hakainde Hichilema returned to Kampala and underwent three Covid tests which all turned out positive.
The development comes on the backdrop of President Museveni confirming he has COVID-19 and has since gone into self isolation.
The Vice President was expected to preside over the 2023/2024 National Budget Reading ceremony slated for Thursday, June 15 at the Kololo independence grounds and therefore her chances of presiding over the function now hang in balance.
