At it again! Dr. Dr Hussein Kisiki Nsamba is a Ugandan academician, ranked amongst the top 500 Ugandans according to the scientific index (https://www.adscientificindex.com/scientist/scientist-projects/hussein-kisiki-nsamba/4467914) with a citation index of 9 and cited in nearly 400 publications across the globe with over 15 scientific publications to his name (‪Dr. Dr. Hussein Kisiki Nsamba (PhD) (PhD)‬ – ‪Google Scholar‬‬‬‬‬).
Hussein is a practicing technologist who holds two Engineering doctorates, one from the University of Nottingham United Kingdom (earned in 2017) and another from the University Kuala Lumpur Malaysia (earned 2014). Hussein was one of the very few Ugandans trained and sponsored by the Islamic Development Bank, an organisation owned by the 57 member countries of the Organisation for Islamic Cooperation (OIC). The Islamic Development Bank is a multilateral development bank (MDB), working to improve the lives of people by promoting social and economic development in Member countries and Muslim communities worldwide, by availing scholarships to empower its people. Hussein was lucky to earn these scholarships for both masters and PhD and got the opportunity to train at one of the 100 best Universities in the World.
For his master’s studies, Hussein was sponsored under the M.Sc. Scholarship that assists 20 IsDB LDMCs in the development of their human capital, especially in science and technology, which are both relevant and necessary for their development and for his PhD under IsDB Merit Scholarship Program for High Technology (MSP) that sponsors the best talents in the top 100 Universities in the World, and Hussein was part of this. For his first PhD, Hussein was sponsored by both the University of Kuala lumpur and the University of life Sciences in Norway until he duly completed his PhD studies on record time and has been ranked amongst the very few Ugandans, to earn both PhDs at a very young age below 35 years. Although many scholars have been trained across the globe under such scholarships, some of them remain abroad and fail to contribute to their National development. The IsDB scholarships demand that a scholar returns home to contribute to their national development and the bank keeps track of all its graduates to evaluate their contribution after graduation. Hussein did not fall short on this deliverable, and has been ranked by the IsDB to form the best success story for the year 2023 and was invited at the IsDB headquarters for this special recognition. This story is available on the IsDB website for many scholars across the globe to emulate (https://www.isdb.org/scholarships-backup/isdb-scholarship-2023-uganda)
Hussein has served Uganda well by setting such an example through commitment, resilience and hard work. For his works, Hussein manages a conglomerate of social business enterprises under the Invention Plus Group, that provide metal fabrication solutions in steel and Aluminium, renewable energy solutions, Clean and Safe drinking water, as well as construction and housing solutions. An enterprise that has seen many Ugandans benefit from it, including creating job opportunities to so many vulnerable youths. It runs on a model of offering on –job training skills to the vulnerable youth at no cost, as well as equipping them with skills for self-survival. This he does, at no funding or support but through building stronger social capital that has seen many Ugandans develop their trust in him, and trusting him with their construction projects, a duty he has diligently done since his return from the UK in 2017. Hussein continues to have a burning desire to contribute to social change and as part of the proceeds from Invention Plus Group, Hussein has built a primary School in Nsangi, Wakiso that provide secular and vocational education, to the community. For his academic life, Hussein has taught at both graduate and undergraduate programs at Makerere University.
For this special recognition, the IsDB has sponsored Dr. Dr. Hussein to visit its Headquarters, for a fully sponsored trip with an opportunity to perform Umrah, while visiting the holy places of Mecca and Medina.
