Kira Chief Magistrates Court has suspended criminal Proceedings Against Businessman Sulait Semakula and Yusuf Semakula who have been facing charges of Malicious damage to property.
This followed the Nolle prosequi from the office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (signed by DPP Jane Frances Abodo) that has been presented to court by the state prosecutor in the matter.
The Nolle has presented in presence of the two accused persons (Sulait and Yusuf).
Upon receiving the court decision, the two accused who had been accompanied by friends and relatives along side their lawyers, welcomed the decision adding that this was over due.
Last year, the duo were arrested and arraigned in court on charges of Malicious damage to property whereby it was alleged that Sulait Semakula, proprietor of Sema Properties, and others still at large maliciously destroyed property belonging to 99-year-old Namazzi Helena at Buloli Namugongo-Kira division, Wakiso District, between December 14 and 28, 2022.
They were remanded to Luzira Prison on9th January 2023 and later they were released on bail pending hearing of their case.
