KAMPALA-Benedicto Kiwanuka Galiko, the lead petitioner in most of the cases against the leadership of Democratic Party (DP) , has called upon all registered party members not to engage in any Party activity until when court pronounces it’s self on true leadership of this Political Party.
On addressing the press in Kampala on Friday, Galiko noted that however much they are fighting to have DP’s affairs run in line with the Party Constitution, they are still facing challenges of a number activities being organized unlawfully with the internal structures.
“What is being done now is contempt of court orders, on 27 June 2024, Hon. Justice Dr. Douglas Singiza made it clear that all party activities be stopped until MA 0576 of 2024 arising from MA 306 of 2020 is completed.”
Kiwanuka made this clarification, basing on allegations that some of the top bosses in Democratic Party, are preparing to hold Party elections during this period when their stay in office is being queried.
“By next week, we are going to petition High court , seeking Consequential orders or seeking interpretation of Justice Philip Odoki’s ruling as well as getting more directions on how DP affairs have to be managed.
Galiko raised concern about the degrading manner in which DP Chairperson for Padel district was brutally arrested by unknown individuals adding that this must stop.
