LUWERO, UGANDA – A shocking incident has left a community in mourning after four daughters allegedly beat their 89-year-old mother to death over a money dispute.
Nalujja Yowanina, a resident of Bbale Kamuzingiza Village, Kiyanda Parish, Nyimbwa Subcounty, was pronounced dead at John’s Clinic in Bbowa on Friday, April 26, 2024.
According to police reports, the daughters – Naziiwa, Nafuna, Naiga, and Namutebi – demanded money from their mother, which led to a physical altercation. “They beat their mother while demanding money from the sale of her plot,” said ASP Sam Twiineamazima Sam, Police PRO Savannah Region.
The police were alerted by the area chairman and swiftly responded to the scene. “We responded promptly and registered a case of murder by assault. The scene was visited and documented by the Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO) and Homicide Squad from Bombo,” ASP Twiineamazima explained.
The suspects are currently in police custody, and investigations are ongoing. “We are working tirelessly to ensure justice is served. We urge anyone with information related to this case to come forward and assist in the investigation,” ASP Twiineamazima appealed.
This tragic incident has raised concerns about family conflicts and the need for peaceful resolution. “It’s heartbreaking to see family members turn against each other over money. We urge families to seek help when conflicts arise,” said a local leader.
