Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Sunday met with Anita Annet Among, speaker of the Ugandan Parliament, as part of his official visit to this African country.
At the meeting, the Cuban foreign minister highlighted the historic ties of friendship and cooperation between both nations, as well as the common interest in continuing to strengthen parliamentary ties, the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs reported.
On Twitter, the Ugandan legislative leader highlighted the bilateral cooperation in areas such as education, biotechnology, agriculture and health, the latter mainly with the training of professionals.
The meeting was also attended by members of the Cuba-Uganda interparliamentary group, who celebrated the development of collaboration projects between both countries as a means to break the US blockade against Cuba.
Kampala and Havana support each other in international forums through the Non-Aligned Movement, the Group of 77 plus China and the UN to defend and protect their interests and strategic political and economic associations.
Rodriguez arrived in Kampala from the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, where he met with the highest government and parliamentary authorities.
