KAMPALA-Earlier, the Court of Appeal kicked off a Criminal Appeals session to hear 25 cases in Kampala. The session began today, 21st October 2024, and will conclude on 23rd October 2024.
It Is being presided over by Lady Justice Irene Mulyagonja, Lady Justice Margaret Tibulya, and Justice Moses Kawumi Kazibwe.
According to the cause list signed by the Court’s Deputy Registrar, HW Lillian Bucyana, 25 appeals to be heard, with Murder constituting majority of the appeals to be handled with 12 cases.
Robbery follows with five (5) appeals, defilement with four (4) while Rape has two (2) appeals. Causing financial loss and criminal revision have one appeal each.
In two cases, the State is appealing an Acquittal on Murder charges, and in another case, the State is challenging both acquittals and sentences.
The appellants appeared virtually, while their legal representatives were physically present in court.
