KAMPALA -The Constitutional Court has today kicked off a three-day session to hear 21 matters. The session will run until March 7, 2025, but there will be no proceedings on March 6.

It is being presided over by Lady Justice Hellen Obura, Justice Oscar Kihika, Lady Justice Margaret Tibulya, Justice Moses Kazibwe Kawumi, Justice Dr. Asa Mugenyi, and Justice Musa Ssekaana.
According to the Deputy Registrar, HW Jane Mugala, of the 21 matters to be heard by the Justices during this session, 13 are petitions, seven are applications, and one is a reference.
For Day one of the session, the panel disposed of one petition along with its two applications, while the remaining matters were adjourned for judgment on notice.
One of the petitions set for hearing tomorrow is by former minister of state for Karamoja affairs Hon. Agnes Nandutu. She is challenging the constitutionality of Sections 21A(1) and (2)(a), (b), and (c) of the Anti-Corruption Act, 2009, under which she is charged in the High Court’s Anti-Corruption Division (Criminal Case No. AA 0037 of 2023). She argues that these provisions violate Articles 20(1), 21(1), 28(1), 28(3)(a), 12, and 44(c) of the Constitution.
Petitioners and their legal representatives were present in court.
