KAMPALA — City pastor Jonathan Nalebo, known to many as Apostle Jona and once a journalist with Galaxy FM, has announced the end of his over seven-year marriage to Enid Mirembe, a well-known organizer of past Miss Uganda events. Nalebo publicly said he takes full responsibility for the separation, just days after openly reaching out on social media to a born-again DJ, Alisha Uwase.
In a public message, Apostle Jona expressed his regret over the end of his marriage. “After more than seven years, Enid and I have peacefully decided to part ways. I am fully responsible for my shortcomings. She is an incredible woman, and I hope she finds the love she deserves,” he wrote. “As for me, I am returning to Jesus for healing, to serve, and to grow. As it says in Psalm 34:18.”
The news spread quickly online, especially after being shared by Galaxy FM, the radio station where Nalebo used to work as a journalist before becoming a pastor and event organizer, including the popular Rolex Festival.
In a longer message to his followers, Nalebo admitted he didn’t handle the marriage well. “In many ways, she was too perfect for me, and I didn’t appreciate the treasure that she was,” he said. “I failed to truly honor the values she lived by in every part of her life.”
He explained that the separation wasn’t due to fighting, but a mutual decision made for the sake of peace, healing, and the well-being of their children, who will stay with Mirembe. “As a man of God, I know I am called to set an example—but I have fallen short,” Nalebo admitted. “The devil often targets the most precious things, and family is one of them.”
However, Nalebo’s recent public actions on social media have caused a stir. On April 13, Galaxy FM’s X account (formerly Twitter) posted attractive photos of DJ Alisha Uwase, noting her decision to leave behind bars, alcohol, and sex after becoming a born-again Christian. Nalebo directly replied to this post, asking, “Hi Alisha, can we get married?”
Two days later, on April 15, after DJ Uwase shared photos with the caption, “God makes everything beautiful… in His time,” Nalebo responded again, this time quoting a Bible verse.
He cited Ecclesiastes 3:11, saying, “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning1 to end.”
This online exchange has led to mixed reactions. Some people are praising Nalebo’s openness and faith in starting anew, while others are questioning the timing and sincerity of his proposal given his recent marital breakup.
Nalebo, however, remains firm in his spiritual path. “If love comes into my life again, I hope it finds me healed, whole, and more grounded in Christ,” he wrote. “Until then, stay blessed.”
