Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has sparked controversy after threatening to arrest a top police official and his entire department.
In a series of posts on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter, General Kainerugaba singled out Major Tom Magambo, the Director of the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID), accusing him of arbitrarily arresting individuals on behalf of President Yoweri Museveni.
“People are going to be arrested today starting with Tom Magambo and his whole department!!” General Kainerugaba wrote.

He further stated, “Magambo likes arresting people saying that Mzee has sent him. Well, now it is his turn to be arrested!”
General Kainerugaba also emphasized his authority, saying “As CDF I control both UPDF and UPF! If anyone has ANY issues with that he will see.”
The reasons behind General Kainerugaba’s threat are not yet clear, but the move has raised concerns about potential tensions within Uganda’s security forces.
