BREAKING! Security foils robbery at Pride Microfinance Kabale branch

Security successfully thwarted a robbery attempt at Pride Microfinance Bank Limited Kabale branch during the early hours of Monday. It is alleged that about five unidentified individuals forcibly entered Pride Microfinance Bank along Kabale main street, near Kisoro taxi park, commonly referred to as Esso in central division, Kabale municipality around 01:00 AM.

The assailants overpowered four on-duty guards and attempted to access the safe in vain.

They made off with two SR-guns containing 14 rounds of ammunition belonging to Saracen Uganda, a private security firm. Fortunately, Estafano Bategana, 38, one of the guards, who was on night duty, promptly alerted the police for assistance.

Police swung into action forcing the attackers to abandon the firearms and fled the scene. Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region Police Spokesperson, confirmed the incident, saying that investigations are currently underway.

Maate further stated that Bategana was detained to assist in the investigation, as he was unable to provide a clear account of the events leading to the incident. The case has been officially registered at Kabale police station under file number CRB 894/2023.
