Sulaiman Jakana Nadduli, the son of former minister and veteran minister Abdul Nadduli has died.
Available reports indicate that Jakana who contested in 2021 Parliamentary elections was found dead at his home a few days after he was released from prison on charges related to promoting sectarianism.
“We’ve woken up to the terrible news of the untimely passing of our brother Jakaana Nadduli. The family says he was found dead at his home, a few days after he was released from prison. I spoke to him Saturday and he sounded fine. Terrible news,” National Unity Platform Secretary General, David Lewis Rubongoya wrote on Twitter.
Nadduli who was battling charges of promoting sectarianism had just been released on bail by Luwero Chief Magistrate’s court.
He had been barred from making statements on any media platforms given the seriousness of the offences against him.
According to the charge sheet, on April 5, 2022 while in Luwero, Jakana, 37 had recorded and uploaded a video on youtube, which promotes sectarianism against Banyankole and Banyarwanda contrary to section 41(1) of the penal code act.
Jakana had pleaded not guilty to the offense.
