KAMPALA – A joint security team of Special Forces Command, UPDF, Counter-Terrorism Police and Military Police have secured key government installations and buildings in Kampala following two bomb blasts in the city on Tuesday, 16 November 2021.
The bomb blasts occurred at the entrance of Central Police Station (CPS) Kampala while another one was at Parliamentary Avenue, with the Inspectorate of Government offices on Jubilee Insurance Building the most affected.
And now, the heavily armed security forces have cordoned off the scenes of crime while roads around them have been blocked, with no vehicle or people allowed around them.
Parliament has been closed off, with no one allowed to enter or exit. The nearby KCCA offices and key government offices such as Education Service Commission and National Theatre have also been sealed off.
Photos and videos shared on social media showed heavy clouds of smoke and some cars burning near Jubilee Insurance along Parliamentary Avenue.
A fire truck put out the fire at Parliamentary Avenue, which burnt a car to ashes.
The number of the dead and injured is yet to be established.
