Bobi Wine’s head of Security charged before Army Court

KAMPALA – The Makindye General Court Martial has charged Achileo Kivumbi, the head of security for National Unity Platform (NUP) President Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, also known as Bobi Wine, with unlawful possession of defense stores. This charge is contrary to Section 158 (1) (2) of the UPDF Act, Cap 330.

Achileo Kivumbi denied all the charges read against him and has been remanded to Luzira Prison until September 2, 2024.

According to the charge sheet, Kivumbi, a 42-year-old driver and resident of Nansana East B’ Zone, Nansana Municipality in Wakiso District, is subject to military law under Section 117 (1) (h) (i) of the UPDF Act, 330.

The prosecution alleges that on August 3, 2024, at around 1503hrs, Kivumbi was found in unlawful possession of one pair of Lt Col pips at Nansana East II B Zone, Nansana Municipality in Wakiso District. The pips are considered gazetted defense stores.

Kivumbi was arrested by security personnel on August 2 as he was heading home in Nansana.
