MUBENDE – During his pastoral visit to Madudu Parish in Mityana, Bishop Anthony Zziwa of Kiyinda Mityana Diocese, wedded 34 couples and emphasized the importance of parents protecting their children, especially during the upcoming holidays, from the growing threat of homosexuality.
Bishop Zziwa stressed that parents’ carelessness has contributed to the increase in indecent behaviors among children. He encouraged parents to maintain a friendly relationship with their children, as many recruiters of immoral practices target children who are unlikely to inform their parents.
The Bishop also urged Christians to protect the environment by ensuring proper garbage disposal and planting more trees. He reminded them to trust in the Almighty Lord, creator of heaven and earth, as with Him, everything is possible.
Father Vincent Kajoba, the parish priest, delivered a stirring message, encouraging believers to embrace the sacred sacrament of matrimony, which has a profound impact on shaping individuals and fostering growth within families. He thanked Christians for their support and asked parents to raise their children on a Christian foundation for a better tomorrow.
In the ceremony, 34 couples received holy matrimony, and 439 children received holy Communion. The mass wedding was led by Bishop Anthony Zziwa, assisted by Father Vincent Kajoba, Father James Kayinda, and Father Aloysius Buyondo. Over 4000 believers attended the well-organized event, with some seated and others standing joyfully to witness their friends’ union.
The couples made vows to love and honor each other in good times and bad, in sickness and health, for all the days of their lives. Some couples were beginning their marriage life, while others were renewing their vows.
