KHARTOUM —Amb. Dr. Rashid Yahya Ssemuddu the Ambassador of Uganda to Sudan has presented his credentials to Gen. Abdel Fattah Abdelrahman Al–Burhan, the President of the Transitional Sovereignty Council of of Sudan.
The ceremony which took place on Thursday July 7 2022 was held at the State Palace in Khartoum.
Amb. Ssemuddu was accompanied to the ceremony by a delegation of Senior Officials from the Embassy of Uganda in Khartoum.
Gen. Al-Burhan welcomed and congratulated Ssemuddu upon his appointment as Ambassador to Sudan hailed the excellent cordial bilateral relations between Uganda and the Sudan which continue to grow from strength to strength.
President Burhan assured the Ambassador of his full support and that of the Government of Sudan and wished Amb. Ssemuddu God’s blessing and a successful tour of duty in Sudan.
While presenting his credentials, Amb. Ssemuddu expressed gratitude to Gen Burhan for receiving his credentials accrediting him as Uganda’s Ambassador to the Sudan to formerly execute his duties.
He also expressed his appreciation for the expectional warm hospitality accorded to him since his arrival in the country.
Amb. Ssemuddu further appreciated President Al- Burhan for the support he extended to his predeccor, Amb Kinobe during his service in the Sudan.
Amb. Ssemuddu conveyed a message of good will and fraternal wishes from President Museveni to President Al-Burhan and the People of Sudan, reiterating his support and unweaving commitment of the Government and people of Uganda to ensure a stable and prosperous Sudan.
Amb Ssemuddu commended the excellent cordial bilateral relations that exist between Uganda and Sudan as evidenced by regular exchange of official visits at all levels of Government as well as people-to-people relations.
He further reiterated his commitment towards further consolidating these relations.
He underscored Uganda’s role as guarantors of peace agreement in South Sudan and further emphasized the importance of bilateral relations in promoting Peace and Security through available regional mechanisms e.g IGAD, and ICGLR.
In regard to the prevailing situation in the Sudan, Ambassador Ssemuddu informed Gen. Al Burhan that, Gen Museveni is following the developments with keen interest and reiterated that it is the belief of Kampala that the process of trilateral mechanism will assist resolve the political, security and governance issues in the Sudan.
In conclusion, Ssemuddu conveyed his gratitude to President Gen. Adbel Fattah Burhan for the warm reception accorded to him and pledged his commitment to strengthening bilateral cooperation for the the mutual benefit of both Uganda and Sudan.
