HOLY SEA —Pope Francis has urged leaders to heed to the Christian values and principles as they carry on their daily duty of leading the people.
The Vicar of Jesus Christ made the call during a private meeting with the Speaker of Parliament of Uganda, Anita Among in Holy Sea on Tuesday.
‘’I will continue praying for you for continued God’s Blessings; I recall you came here last time as a Deputy Speaker but now I learnt that you are the Speaker of the Parliament in Uganda.” the Supreme Pontiff of the Universal Church said.
Adding …‘’I urge you to continue standing by your strong Christian values and always promote legislation that will ensure freedom of worship, economic freedom and social justice as exemplified in the Bible. Several Ugandan leaders have been welcomed to Rome in the past decade, and a record three Popes have visited Uganda since 1969.
Pope Francis’ visit in 2015 made Uganda the first African country to host three different reigning popes.
Uganda was the only African country visited by Pope Paul VI during his 15-year reign at the Vatican. He came to Uganda in 1969. Next came Pope John Paul II in February 1993.
