SOROTI, Uganda — Airtel Uganda has commissioned five new network sites in Soroti, reinforcing its commitment to providing superior network connectivity in the eastern city. The expansion, announced Friday, is part of Airtel’s ongoing investment to enhance network coverage and improve digital experiences for customers in the greater Teso region.
The new sites in Soroti are among several being deployed nationwide as part of Airtel’s efforts to expand its 100% 4G network. Residents and businesses in Soroti can anticipate stronger signal strength, faster internet speeds, and improved overall service quality with this expansion.
Speaking at the launch, Airtel Sales Director Wongani Muthiya emphasized the company’s dedication to bridging the digital divide and supporting economic transformation through reliable connectivity.
“Our goal is to ensure that every Ugandan, regardless of location, can enjoy reliable and affordable digital services,” Muthiya said. “The new sites in Soroti are another step toward closing the connectivity gap and supporting local communities with the tools they need to grow, connect, and thrive.”
The five new network sites are located in Soroti Station TC, Awoja, Oriada, Kamuda, and Atirir. While the launch event highlighted one of the sites, all five are now operational. Airtel stated this development will directly benefit tourists, local businesses, students, farmers, and families by enabling them to stay connected and leverage digital opportunities.
The Resident District Commissioner of Soroti District, Paul Eseru, welcomed Airtel’s investment. “We appreciate Airtel’s investment in our district,” Eseru said. “Reliable network coverage is essential for everything from education to commerce and healthcare. This initiative will not only improve communication but also contribute to the social and economic transformation of our people.”
Airtel Uganda affirmed its commitment to supporting national development through continuous investment in network infrastructure across the country, aiming to provide affordable, high-quality communication services to its customers.
“Access to a stable network is no longer a luxury, it’s a necessity,” Eseru concluded. “Airtel’s investment in Soroti supports education, healthcare, and entrepreneurship. We’re glad to see private sector players like Airtel step up to bridge the digital divide.”
