The African qualifiers for the 2026 FIFA World Cup are heating up, with 14 crucial matches scheduled to take place from March 23 to 25. The stakes are high, with several teams vying for a spot in the prestigious tournament.
One of the most highly anticipated matches is between Morocco and Tanzania, scheduled to take place on March 25. Morocco, currently leading Group E, will host Tanzania at the Honor Stadium in Oujda. Tanzania’s coach, Hemed Suleiman, is confident that his team can hold their own against the Moroccan side.
“Tanzania is not a weak team,” Suleiman said. “Tanzania has moved beyond the humiliation of previous years; we deserve respect.”
Ghana, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from their disappointing failure to qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). The Black Stars will face Madagascar on March 24, and former Ghana player Godwin Attram believes that coach Otto Addo has learned from his mistakes.
“It’s something we all have been thinking about on why Black Stars can’t perform recently, but I think for now coach Otto Addo has learned from his previous mistakes this time,” Attram said.
Mozambique’s Mambas, who have never qualified for the World Cup, will face a tough test against Algeria on March 25. However, coach Chiquinho Conde is optimistic about his team’s chances.
“Playing in the World Cup is a dream for the players, and as a coach, I would love to be there,” Conde said. “Today, the number of teams qualifying for the World Cup has increased, and we have a dream. We will fight to achieve our goals with humility and respect for our opponents, regardless of their calibre.”
Other key matches include Tunisia vs. Malawi, Botswana vs. Somalia, and South Africa vs. Benin. With so much at stake, these matches promise to be thrilling encounters that will keep fans on the edge of their seats.
