KAMPALA, UGANDA – Ugandan startups have a unique opportunity to shine at the upcoming Africa Tech Festival 2024, scheduled to take place from November 12-14 in Cape Town, South Africa.
The festival’s flagship event, AfricaIgnite, promises to connect the continent’s most innovative startups with funders, customers, and industry experts. This year’s edition is expected to attract hundreds of exhibitors, over 450 speakers, and more than 15,000 attendees.
“The Africa Tech Festival provides a platform for stakeholders to connect, collaborate, and drive innovation,” said James Williams, Event Director. “We’re excited to see how AfricaIgnite has grown since its launch last year, reflecting the effectiveness of the platform in growing Africa’s startup ecosystem.”
Ugandan startups will have access to various supportive sessions and experiences. The AfricaIgnite pitch competition, presented in partnership with the Startup World Cup and powered by Pegasus Tech Ventures, offers a $1 million investment prize. The winner will advance to next year’s Startup World Cup Grand Finale in the United States.
A Founder and Investor Day will enable founders to network with experienced entrepreneurs. The Matchmaking Programme will connect founders with potential venture capitalists, while the startup marketplace will provide exhibition opportunities.
Confirmed speakers include Bongani Sithole, CEO of 54 Collective; Art Chupeau, Managing Partner at Baobab Network; Zach George, Managing Partner at Launch Africa; and Laurie Fuller, Partner at Raiven Capital.
“AfricaIgnite provides startups with a range of supportive sessions and experiences,” said Zach George, who will participate in a keynote fireside chat on navigating mergers and acquisitions and local investments for success in the tech ecosystem.
The Africa Tech Festival is part of the Informa Tech Connecting Africa event series, celebrating Africa’s diverse community of tech champions.
