KAMPALA, UGANDA – Absa Bank Uganda has once again demonstrated its commitment to supporting girl child education in Uganda, through the successful hosting of the 2025 KH3 7 Hills Run.
The annual event, which drew over 6,000 participants, raised UGX 300 million in support of initiatives that promote access to quality education for girls. This effort is aligned with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and reinforces Absa Bank Uganda’s dedication to creating a positive impact in the communities it serves.
“We are thrilled with the overwhelming response to this year’s event,” said David Wandera, Interim Managing Director, Absa Bank Uganda. “The UGX 300 million raised will make a tangible difference in the lives of many young girls, empowering them to pursue their dreams and unlock their full potential.”
The 2025 KH3 7 Hills Run was held in partnership with the Kampala Hash House Harriers (KH3) and featured 5KM, 10KM, and 21KM races across Kampala’s iconic seven hills. The event’s success was made possible through the support of 12 corporate sponsors.
Brian Adams Ategeka, one of the elite winners, praised the event, saying, “I have participated in many races, but the Absa KH3 7 Hills Run is truly special. It is physically demanding but incredibly rewarding, especially knowing that we are running for a cause bigger than ourselves—giving young girls access to education.”
Wilson Asiimwe, Hash Master, Kampala Hash House Harriers, expressed gratitude to the participants and sponsors, saying, “We are grateful to the general public, running clubs, and companies that heeded our call to participate in this run for a good cause. The Run keeps growing in leaps and bounds year on year, and we look forward to making an even greater impact on the community this year.”
Since its inception in 2023, the Absa KH3 7 Hills Run has raised a total of UGX 500 million for girl child education, positively impacting over 10,000 girls across Uganda.
Through its continued support for the KH3 7 Hills Run, Absa Bank Uganda is leading the charge in promoting education and community development in Uganda, and inspiring others to join the effort.
