Government of Uganda has announced 425 scholarships for academic year 2020/2021 to bolster health sector.
A document by Ministry of Health indicates that government of Uganda received financing from the World Bank and the Global Financing Facility in Support of Every Woman Every Child (GFF) for implementation of Uganda Reproductive Maternal and Child Health Service Improvement Project (URMCHIP) scholarships
Part of the Financing is to be used to support training of Health Workers in Key disciplines in Reproductive, Maternal, Neonatal, Child and Adolescent health tenable in Uganda.
Over 700 health workers have been trained over the last two (2) financial years in key maternal and child health medical disciplines.
The Ministry of Health now wishes to announce availability of scholarships under URMCHIP for:
(a) Masters in Nursing (Critical Care Nursing); and (b) In-service Certificate (Intensive Care Nursing).
The Scholarships will cover tuition, research and a stipend only and are categorized as follows:
Eligibility Criteria for Applicants wishing to apply for:
A. Masters in Nursing (Critical Care Nursing) should be:
i. Working at a registered hospital in Uganda for a period of not less than 2 years and should be on a payroll.
ii. The candidate should be a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing/ Midwifery.
iii. Willing to sign a bonding agreement of Ministry of Public Service and Work for equivalent to the time spent on training under this scholarship scheme.
iv. Willing to go back to current district of work or be deployed in health facilities with ICU after completion of training.
v. Having an admission letter from a recognized training institutions.
vi. Should have a recommendation from the Director of a health facility with an ICU.
B. In-service Certificate (Intensive Care Nursing) should be:
i. Working at a Public or Private health facility in Uganda for a period of not less than 2 years.
ii. Willing to go back to current district of work or be deployed in hard to reach areas and other upcg an admission letter from the above listed training institutions.
NOTE:
The scholarships are available to Uganda Nationals only.
Applicants should attach a copy of the National Identity Card/ National Identification Number or Passport.
An applicant should not be a beneficiary of another scholarship.
Applicants working in upcountry health facilities will be given high consideration.

b. Successful candidates will be required to apply for official study leave from their employers.
c. Submit a copy of proof of employment, either an appointment letter or employment identification card and also include your personal email Address and Telephone contact.
