
KAMPALA, Uganda —Absa Bank Uganda has appointed Henry Tumusiime as its new human capital director, effective Tuesday.
Tumusiime brings more than 18 years of experience in organizational leadership, development, human resource management and cultural transformation to the role. He joins Absa from Abacus Pharma (Africa) Limited, where he was the group chief resource officer. Abacus Pharma is a Carlyle Group Portfolio Company.
His expertise includes designing and implementing strategies to promote behavioral and cultural change. Previous roles include head of human resource at Bidco Uganda Limited, director of human capital and shared services at Movit Products Limited, and manager for people and change at PricewaterhouseCoopers Uganda.
Tumusiime also held the head of human resources position at Unilever and was an organization development specialist at the Uganda Revenue Authority. He also has consulting experience with Reev Consult International.
David Wandera, interim managing director at Absa Bank Uganda, announced the appointment and thanked Lillian Akot for her leadership during the transition.
Tumusiime holds a bachelor’s degree in social work and social administration from Makerere University and a Master of Science in Organisational and Social Psychology from the London School of Economics and Political Science in the United Kingdom. He is a member of the Chartered Institute for Personnel Development (UK) and the Human Resource Manager’s Association (Uganda).
Absa Bank Uganda is part of Absa Group Limited, a large African financial services group listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange. It has 39 branches and 76 ATMs in Uganda. The bank offers retail, business, corporate and investment solutions.
