MAKERERE -The newly elected Kawempe North Member of Parliament Elias Nalukoola Luyimbaazi has attributed his land slide victory to People of Kawempe and National Unity Platform (NUP).

On addressing the press last night, immediately after being declared at the tally center (Makerere University) , pointed out that this electoral process is an eye opener towards the state of Uganda’s democracy.
“I commend the National Unity Platform under the leadership of Hon. Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, Secretary General Lewis Rubongoya and other party leaders who have shown the people of Kawempe that you must stand you ground, without fear of intimidation to defeat dictatorship.”
He also thanked the people of Kawempe North for entrusting him with the responsibility of representing them in Parliament for the remaining months to 2025 General elections.
Following the Thursday election process, Makabayi Henry, the returning officer, Kampala district declared Elias Nalukoola Luyimbazi as the winner of the highly contested Kawempe North by-election which was organized to replace Hon Muhammad Ssegirinya who passed away at the beginning of this year.
Luyimbaazi obtained a total of 17,764 votes followed by National Resistance Movement’s Nambi Faridah with 8593 votes.
The race had a total of ten candidates from various Political parties and others Independent.
