XRP Healthcare, a leader in healthcare innovation, has officially acquired Pharma Ville, a prominent retail and wholesale pharmacy chain in Uganda. This acquisition marks XRP Healthcare’s strategic entry into Africa’s healthcare industry, positioning the company to revolutionize pharmaceutical distribution across the continent.
With two retail pharmacies and five wholesale distribution centers strategically located across Uganda, Pharma Ville has played a crucial role in enhancing medicine accessibility. By integrating Pharma Ville’s well-established infrastructure, XRP Healthcare aims to optimize supply chains and scale its presence in Africa’s rapidly evolving healthcare market.
The transaction was facilitated by Shonubi Musoke & Co. Advocates, one of Uganda’s leading law firms, in partnership with Norton Rose Fulbright, ensuring a smooth legal and regulatory transition.
Pharma Ville has been instrumental in Uganda’s pharmaceutical sector, working closely with the National Medical Stores (NMS) and Joint Medical Stores (JMS) to ensure the steady supply of essential medicines. The acquisition includes 60 registered pharmaceutical products, with an additional 18 ready for immediate commercialization and 70 more awaiting regulatory approval.
Pharma Ville’s extensive distribution agreements with eight global pharmaceutical suppliers further enhance its ability to provide high-quality medicines across Uganda. These partnerships include:
Toros Group (Switzerland) – Orthopedic supplies, Ascensia Switzerland (Germany) – Diabetic care solutions, Incepta Pharmaceuticals Ltd (Bangladesh) – Human drugs, Amanta Health Care Limited (India) – Intravenous fluids, Forans Latvia (Latvia) – Diabetic care products, Mediteks (Turkey) – Surgical equipment, Naari Pharma Pvt Limited (India) – Human drugs and Universal Corporation Limited (Kenya) – Human drugs
Richard Kitonsa, Founder and CEO of Pharma Ville, emphasized the game-changing potential of the deal:
“Joining XRP Healthcare allows us to scale operations rapidly, integrate advanced technologies, and better serve Uganda’s healthcare needs.”
Whitney Lynn, Chairman of XRP Healthcare, highlighted the company’s mission: “We are committed to making essential medicines more accessible and affordable. This acquisition is a significant step toward that goal.”
Kain Roomes, CEO of XRP Healthcare, pointed to the opportunities within Uganda’s healthcare industry:
“The fragmented pharmaceutical landscape in Uganda presents immense potential. By integrating Pharma Ville, we can drive immediate impact—enhancing medicine access and streamlining healthcare delivery.”
Laban Roomes, COO of XRP Healthcare, stressed the company’s long-term vision:
“We have invested considerable time in Uganda, developing legal and operational frameworks to scale this business efficiently. Our efforts will lead to long-term improvements in healthcare accessibility.”
Pharma Ville is set to undergo a series of upgrades to modernize its operations, including: Advanced inventory management for improved supply chain efficiency, expanded licensing to introduce a broader range of pharmaceutical products, enhanced distribution networks for wider reach across Uganda, digital payment integration for seamless transactions and customer relationship management (CRM) systems to enhance engagement
By Q4 2025, Pharma Ville will be rebranded as XRP Healthcare, aligning with the company’s broader vision for healthcare transformation.
XRP Healthcare has also integrated its XRPH AI App into Pharma Ville’s digital platform (www.pharmaville.ai), providing a multilingual healthcare assistant offering medical guidance in Luganda, Swahili, Kinyarwanda, French, and English.
In an upcoming update, the app will allow users to upload images of medical conditions for AI-assisted preliminary assessments, with referrals to healthcare professionals for critical cases.
Dr. Peter Waiswa, a strategic advisor to UNICEF, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, and XRP Healthcare, praised the acquisition’s impact:
“This deal strengthens Uganda’s healthcare sector, drives economic growth, and introduces essential medical technologies to the industry.”
With Africa’s healthcare market projected to grow to $259 billion by 2030, and the digital health segment expected to reach $16.6 billion, XRP Healthcare is well-positioned to capitalize on these emerging opportunities.
XRP Healthcare currently holds registered trademarks in Uganda, the UAE, and the UK, with plans for further global expansion. The company has also hinted at a major global announcement set to be revealed later this quarter, signaling broader ambitions beyond its African expansion.
