Rubirizi, Uganda – Thousands of enthusiastic residents gathered in Rubirizi district to welcome Ugandan President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni during his ongoing Parish Development Model (PDM) tour of the Ankole sub-region. The large turnout was widely attributed to the efforts of Hon. Cadet, the former Member of Parliament (MP) and a strong contender for the Rubirizi parliamentary seat in the 2026 elections.
Ahead of the President’s visit, Hon. Cadet is said to have rallied his constituents, urging them to offer a warm and befitting welcome to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) chairman. Responding to the call, crowds comprised of men, women, and the elderly walked several kilometers, chanting both President Museveni’s and Cadet’s names. The President appeared visibly pleased, acknowledging the crowd with a smile throughout the event.
Local leaders used the occasion to highlight Cadet’s role in community development initiatives. The LC 1 chairperson of the rally venue praised him for his grassroots engagement and support in launching agricultural projects that align with the PDM agenda. “Our son Cadet has been a blessing to this constituency,” the chairperson remarked. “He has encouraged us to embrace agriculture, echoing the President’s call for self-sustenance.”
After President Museveni departed, the crowd’s enthusiasm for Cadet remained evident as supporters lifted him onto their shoulders, expressing gratitude for his community-oriented leadership. “I left everything I was doing to welcome the President and to thank our son Cadet,” said an elderly woman at the rally. “He has always guided us to build better lives.”
Younger constituents also voiced their admiration. “It is now clearer than ever—Cadet is our next MP!” shouted a jubilant young man amid cheers from the crowd.
President Museveni’s PDM tours are focused on encouraging local communities to harness agricultural potential and improve household incomes. In Rubirizi, the synergy between national development goals and local mobilization efforts, exemplified by figures like Hon. Cadet, is striking a chord with the electorate.
