Kabuye Kyofatogabye, the State Minister for Kampala along side other leaders from Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) have applauded Kawempe Division leadership under the stewardship of Mayor Emmanuel Sserunjogi , for implementing a number projects aimed at improving service delivery.
“I call upon all political leaders in Uganda, always to put aside their political and religious differences whenever it comes to serve delivery. I don’t have the same political affiliation with Mr. Sserunjogi but he has been always in my office lobbying to have roads in his division upgraded.” Remarked the Minister at the Grand opening of the new Kawempe Division Administration block on Tuesday.
Kyofa noted that it’s from that background that Sserunjogi has been in position to lobby for funds which have been used for upgrading a number of roads in Kawempe and completion of the the administration block.
“We have spent one billion shillings on final touches of this building. I request the Mayor and other leaders to negotiate with the Division neighbors (whom I have been told that they are good people), to provide us with more land for expansion and establishment of Parking space.”
Mr. Frank Lussa, the outgoing Acting Executive Director of KCCA, revealed that he prioritized the completion of this building among all matters which were brought before him because of its urgency by that time.
“I thank the Architects of this building for having included Ramps which will make this building accessible to all categories of people. No plan will be cleared by KCCA if the building has no provision for ramps. To ensure that this is implemented, am going to include it in my handle over report as a point of emphasis for the incoming Executive Director.”
Lussa used this occasion to bid fare well to KCCA staff whom he applauded for the support they have rendered to him through our his 111 days in office.
Lord Councilor Hakeem Kizza Sawula on representing the Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago, commended Division leaders at various levels for their tireless efforts which have resulted into completion of this modern office structure.
His Worship Emmanuel Sserunjogi thanked whoever worked with him in ensuring that the construction project which has lasted for over a decade, comes to an end successfully.
“This building started some time back when I was a Councilor and Deputy Mayor. People saw too much hope in me to the extent that in 2016, they elected the Mayor for Kawempe Division, the position which has enabled me to complete this project.”
Sserunjogi added that with this new office, all staff will have enough working space and people will be in position to easily locate offices for all their leaders as well as technical staff at the Division.
