KAMPALA, Uganda — Ugandan model Sunday Stephen has been crowned Mr. Africa International 2024, beating out 29 other contestants from across the continent.
The 22-year-old Stephen was awarded the title at a ceremony held Sunday in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
“I’m overwhelmed with joy,” Stephen said in a phone interview. “This is a dream come true for me, and I’m honored to represent Uganda and Africa on the international stage.”
Stephen, who has been modeling for five years, said he trained tirelessly for the competition, honing his skills in areas such as runway walking, public speaking and physical fitness.
The Mr. Africa International pageant, now in its sixth year, aims to promote African culture and unity, while also providing a platform for young African men to showcase their talents and ambitions.
Ugandan model Sunday Stephen crowned Mr. Africa International 2024, outshining 29 contestants from across Africa, promoting African culture, unity and empowerment.
As the newly crowned Mr. Africa International, Stephen will receive a cash prize and a modeling contract with a top international agency.
Stephen said he plans to use his title to promote education and health initiatives in Uganda, particularly in rural areas where access to resources is limited.
“I want to inspire young people in Uganda and across Africa to pursue their dreams and never give up on their aspirations,” Stephen said.
