Kampala, Uganda — Stanbic Bank Uganda has appointed Mumba Kenneth Kalifungwa as its new Chief Executive, effective March 1, 2025. The appointment follows regulatory approvals.
Mr. Kalifungwa brings nearly 30 years of experience, including 20 years in the banking sector, to his new role. His expertise spans business development, risk management, strategy formulation, and finance strategy, with a focus on African markets.
Patrick Mweheire, Standard Bank Group’s Regional Chief Executive for East Africa, welcomed Mr. Kalifungwa, citing his extensive experience and leadership expertise as ideal for driving growth and innovation in Uganda.
Damoni Kitabire, Board Chairman of Stanbic Bank Uganda, expressed confidence in Mr. Kalifungwa’s ability to build on the bank’s growth journey and drive Uganda’s growth.
Mr. Kalifungwa holds an MBA from Herriot Watt University and is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants and the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants.
“I am pleased to take on this new challenge,” Mr. Kalifungwa said. “I look forward to building on the bank’s solid foundation and contributing to Uganda’s growth.”
