KAMPALA — Bank of Africa has added BOA Pay to its Mobile Wallet menu. BOA Pay is a payment solution that allows the Bank’s customers to pay for goods and services at partner merchant locations.

The digital payment service is enabled for both the Mobile Wallet application and USSD customers on *246*7#.

The payment solution aims at promoting cashless transactions, easing payments for customers, and enabling a seamless customer experience, at zero cost to the merchant and to the customer.

The Covid-19 pandemic considerably accelerated digital transactional activity in the country. Responding to this trend, the Bank has enhanced its digital offering with BOA Pay. For the customers, this service provides safety and the customer does not need to move with cash, offers convenience, and is completely free of charge.

For the merchant, this service provides opportunities for business to reduce their cost of handling cash, eliminates transactional costs, and reduces reconciliation headaches with clear accountability of transactional activity. All these are ingredients for any business’ growing needs.

During the Managing Director Arthur Isiko’s visit to Kenjoy Supermarket, he said: “The Bank’s strategic formula is grounded on enhancing the customer’s experience. Over the last two years, the Bank has invested heavily in enhancing its digital platform offering. This has been with specific emphasis on our Mobile Wallet and Internet Banking platforms. We are always looking to improve our services and BOA Pay is one of the innovations that reinforces our commitment and we look forward to our customers benefitting from it.”

He further noted that the service is free for customers and merchants and it can be accessed by a vast number of enterprises from small businesses to large corporate companies.

“We believe in strategic partnerships such as the one with Bank of Africa that eases the payment process while offering a great customer experience at checkout,” said Mr. Michael Dondo Mwebesa, the proprietor of Kenjoy Supermarket.

He also added that the service is a quick, safe and convenient solution for customers.

BOA Pay is currently available at all Kenjoy Supermarkets located in Bukoto, Mengo, Najjanankumbi and Nansana.

Over the next months, the Bank will continue to recruit and onboard merchants for the service. BOA Pay signage will be displayed at the respective outlets where BOA Pay payments are acceptable.

How to use BOA Pay

The BOA Pay provides customers with two payment options, using the Mobile Wallet through scanning a QR code, or using the USSD text messaging service. A quick user guide is provided below:

Using the MOBILE WALLET QR code scan:
• A customer logs into the BOA Mobile Wallet application
• Scans the QR code at the merchant’s premises
• Input the amount and validate the payment details
• Input the Mobile Wallet PIN to complete the payment process.

Using USSD text messaging:
• The customer dials *246*7# and inputs their BOA Mobile Wallet PIN
• Confirm the source of funds which is the customer’s account number(s)
• Input the merchant number, a six-figured digit available at the merchant’s premises
• Input the amount and validate the payment details
• Input the Mobile Wallet PIN to complete the payment process.
