Ugandan socialite Nasser Nduhukire, commonly known as Don Nasser, has applied for bail at the International Crimes Division of the High Court in Kampala.
Don Nasser is facing charges of aggravated trafficking and defilement. In his application, he claims to have been kidnapped in Kenya and brought to Uganda without following due process.
Don Nasser’s lawyers, Musa Kabega and Friday Roberts Kagoro, submitted documents seeking temporary release.
Don Nasser states that he is a businessman operating within and outside the country and a resident of Kira Municipality for over eight years.
He claims that on September 20, 2024, he was unlawfully kidnapped in Nairobi where he had traveled for business and detained at Kira Road Police Station for three days.
Prosecutors allege that Don Nasser and Promise Ateete committed a series of crimes, including recruiting and defiling a 16-year-old girl using fraudulent means and exploiting her vulnerability.
Justice Andrew Bashaija has directed the prosecution to file its response by December 6, 2024, and the defense to submit its rejoinder by December 10. The matter has been adjourned to December 18, 2024, for examination of witnesses and ruling.
