Nakimanya presented herself as an expert in starting small businesses, asking for a consultation fee of shs100,000. She would later request between shs2million and shs10 million to start a business on behalf of her clients. Nakimanya promised to hand over the business to the owner after starting it.

Using her social media accounts on Tik Tok and Facebook, Nakimanya allegedly lured her victims, mostly girls and women in the Gulf countries, into sending her mobile money. She would provide receipts and acknowledge receipt of the money.

However, after receiving the money, Nakimanya became non-responsive and rude when asked about the promised businesses. Her victims reported their experiences to another social media commentator and blogger.

The victims presented receipts as evidence, revealing that they had sent Nakimanya mobile money. They appealed for help from police to have her arrested.

Police have warned Ugandans against trusting people they meet on social media with their hard-earned cash. The police spokesperson asked, “Why would you trust someone you don’t know very well with money?”
