Kampala, Uganda – MTN Group Fintech and Mastercard have launched Market by MoMo, a digital marketplace aimed at boosting Uganda’s digital economy.
The platform, unveiled Tuesday, connects thousands of traders with millions of customers, offering a seamless and secure shopping experience.
“Market by MoMo is a game-changer for Uganda’s e-commerce sector,” said Brian Mutungi, ecommerce Country Lead of MTN Group Fincommerce. “It combines various product categories, flexible payment options, and user-friendly shopping features.”
With over 3,500 local businesses on board, Market by MoMo offers a range of products, including groceries, electronics, and health and beauty items.
“Consumers across the board are now presented with increased choices,” said Amnah Ajmal, Executive Vice President at Mastercard. “Through this collaboration, we enable local businesses and consumers in Uganda to participate fully in better shopping experiences.”
MTN Uganda’s General Manager for Sales and Distribution, Joseph Bogera, described the launch as a step toward building a more equitable and connected society.
The platform offers discounts of up to 60% on select product categories, free deliveries in Kampala and neighboring areas, and flexible payment options, including MTN MoMo and major credit/debit cards.
Market by MoMo is accessible via the MTN MoMo app and website, with zero-rated data charges for MTN customers.
