KAMPALA – Airtel Uganda’s Managing Director, Manoj Murali, is set to retire this month after a successful four-year tenure. During his leadership, Airtel Uganda experienced significant growth and success.
Mr. Murali submitted his resignation in July and has been serving his three-month notice since then. Ashish Dutt, the newly appointed Chief Commercial Officer, will hold the fort in November before Soumendra Sahu takes over as Managing Director on December 1.
Mr. Sahu brings over 23 years of experience in the telecommunications industry, having worked with notable companies such as Tata Docomo and Reliance Communications. His most recent role was as CEO at Bharti Airtel’s Gujarat Circle in India.
Industry analysts praise Mr. Sahu’s wealth of experience and expertise, positioning him well to build on Mr. Murali’s successes and propel Airtel Uganda toward further growth and innovation.
“Airtel Uganda has made significant strides under Manoj’s leadership,” said one analyst. “Soumendra’s appointment signals the company’s commitment to continuity and growth.”
Airtel Uganda’s leadership transition comes amid increasing competition in Uganda’s telecommunications sector. The company’s ability to adapt and innovate will be crucial in maintaining its market share.
As Mr. Murali prepares to pass the baton, his legacy as a transformational leader is cemented.
