Kampala, Uganda – With the UAE visa amnesty program set to expire on October 31st, 2024, Ugandans living illegally in the Emirates are racing against time to regularize their status or exit without penalties.
The program, launched on September 1, 2024, offers a one-time opportunity for individuals with expired or overstayed visas to avoid fines and potential arrest.
Nkunyingi Muwada, Shadow Minister of Foreign Affairs, has verified the amnesty program’s details with UAE immigration officials and is urging Ugandans to take advantage of this chance.
“All Ugandans living illegally in the UAE should seize this opportunity to either exit or regularize their status,” Muwada emphasized. “Failure to do so may result in massive immigration arrests.”
The program’s benefits include no overstay fines, no entry ban for those who exit, and eligibility for all types of visas, including expired residency permits and tourist visas. Ugandans with children and those without passports are also eligible, although emergency travel documents must be secured from the Uganda Embassy.
Participating companies are offering job opportunities to Ugandans who regularize their status. The UAE authorities have set up immigration centers across the Emirates to facilitate the amnesty process.
Ugandans in the UAE are advised to act swiftly to avoid potential consequences.
