NANSANA- Uganda Printing and Publishing Corporation (UPPC) has launched a “Smart Exercise book” with simplified formulas and messages aimed at easing the Children’s learning process.
During the book launch held at Barbie Children’s Foundation , Kisumu Village, Nabweru- Katooke in wakiso district on Tuesday, Mr. Joseph Opio Okurut, the Director Internal Operations, who represented the UPPC Managing Director revealed that this book is going to be a game changer in the country’s educational system because of their several features.
“These books we have launched during our out reach program, have high quality papers compared to other exercise books. They are various categories whereby those for Mathematics contain geometrical settings and messages, those for Science have a life cycle of an insect and a number of messages aimed at improving the learner’s experience.”
Opio pointed that on top of these exercise books, they also produce high quality counter books which he urged the members of the general public to look out for in the market because of their quality and affordability.
He also handed over the donation from UPPC staff which included food , sanitary items and scholastic materials to the management of Barbie Children’s foundation to support them throughout the third term.
“We are giving back to the community especially at this moment when children are going back to school, to show the world that even the vulnerable children have a future and need to have better education as their other counter parts from better off families.” Remarked Rebecca Nyakairu, the Public and Corporates Affairs at UPPC
She called upon all able citizens and organizations also to come out and support Barbie Children’s foundation so that it can be in position to offer quality education to the young generation.
“These Smart exercise books , enable the learners to properly understand their environment surrounding as they grow up. Parents can access these books through our network of distributors country wide, at a subsidized price.” Nyakairu added
On behalf of beneficiaries, Namuli Roline a primary seven pupil thanked UPPC staff for thinking about them with a wide range of scholastic materials especially during this critical moment of back to school. “I also thank the staff of Barbie foundation for the love and support they always show to us despite of the challenges they face.” She added
Turyamusiima Barbra, one of the founders of the foundation revealed that they have a total of 300 pupils and this contribution will push them for a long period of time.
“We are so grateful for the donations from UPPC team, the food , scholastic materials and sanitary products are so timely having been brought at the beginning of term. The 100 bags of cement will take us long in our construction process.”
The Items donated included; School bags, reams of papers, books, Sanitary towels, food, toilet papers, soap, salt and detergents.
