Kampala- High Court Judge Isaac Muwata has dismissed the second bail application filed by Molly seeking to be released on bail pending the hearing of the murder case against her.
Earlier on the same court on in April this year , court dismissed Molly’s first bail application on grounds that she had not proved with evidence to court showing that her medical condition couldn’t be managed in Prisons health facilities.
On dismissing the application, the judge ruled that there was no any new ground raised to warrant court to issue a fresh decision on the matter , but instead the applicant brought in the same ground which court already pronounced itself over.
“The accused person has a right to make many bail applications as possible before the same court , but they should consider new grounds different from the previous applications that were denied.”
Court added that the prosecution has already served the prosecution with the list of witnesses and evidence it intends to rely on In the trial, therefore the matter is ready for hearing.
In Court, Molly appeared via zoom as the Court room at Judiciary’s headquarters where the Judge , court room was filed by relatives and friends of the Katanga Family.
Molly Katanga is accused of murdering her husband business man Henry Katanga.
She is jointly accused with her two daughters Patricia Kakwanza and Martha Nkwanzi. Other suspects are; Dr Charles Otai and domestic worker George Amanyire.
Molly Katanga through her lawyers led by Jet Mwebaze , asked court for the second time to be released on bail to enable her go for further treatment since her current medical situation can’t be managed well in Luzira Prison.
Prosecution alleges that on November 2, 2023 at Mbuya in Nakawa Division, Kampala district with Malice aforethought, Molly caused the death of her husband Katanga.
That this followed an alleged fight their bedroom and later his body was found by Police.
