NAKASERO – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni have been among the Ugandans who have been counted on the first day of the 2024 National Housing and Population Census.
These have been counted at State House in Nakasero , Kampala district by Uganda Bureau of Statistics officials led by ….Dr. Chris Mukiza , the Census Commissioner
On commenting about this exercise, Dr. Mukiza noted that the exercise has moved on successfully to the extent that respondents have been so cooperative to the extent that they have provided them with all the answers required on time.
The President has commended the UBOS team for professionalism exhbited at state House during the exercise. “I congratulate Dr Mukiza and his team for this exercise that is if what they have done here is what they are doing every where.” Remarked Museveni
“So coperate with them , I hear that there is a group which doesn’t want to be enumerated, if you don’t cooperate , it will interfere with us in getting solutions to your problems i.e social economic and medical. There were medical questions about hearing, eyesight which were very useful.”
Museveni added that due to comprehensiveness of the process , he has spent close to two hours answering questions.
Several prominent personalities lined up to be counted as a way of encouraging the public to participate in the nationwide exercise.
Some of those captured on camera include the Omusinga wa Rwenzururu, King Charles Wesley Mumbere in Kasese, the Omuhikirwa of Bunyoro Kitara Andrew Byakutaga, Uganda’s Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, the Deputy Premier Moses Ali was also counted as well as Ministers Musa Ecweru and Fred Byamukama.
Other are Vice President Rtd Major Jessica Alupo at her village Oigo Imomwa, Ongongoja Sub County, Katakwi district.
Some of the religious leaders enumerated on the first day Kampala Archbishop Paul Ssemogerere at his home in Rubaga, Diocese of kigezi diocese, the Rt. Rev. Bishop, Gaddie Akanjuna as the first person to be enumerated in his area, His Grace Lambert Beinomugisha, the Archbishop of Mbarara Archdiocese among others.
Majority of the influential people in the society have posted photos of themselves being enumerated on their personal or organizational platforms.
