KUMI, UGANDA – Former Deputy Kampala Resident City Commissioner (DRCC) in charge of Rubaga Division, Herbert Anderson Burora, has made a shocking allegation that there was an attempt to kidnap him at Kumi Hotel. Burora claims that Speaker of Parliament, Anita Among, is behind the alleged attempt, which this publication could not independently verify.
Burora, who made the allegation in a statement on X also took aim at the Speaker of Parliament, who he accused of abusing human rights. “The Speaker being number three in the country doesn’t give her immunity to abuse human rights,” he said.
He also criticized the treatment of citizens, saying, “You cannot make people refugees in their own country and guests in their own towns, forcing them to be on the run all the time.”
Burora, who served as DRCC in charge of Rubaga Division, vowed that the alleged harassment would eventually come to an end. “You laid your bed, kindly peacefully lay in it,” he said.
The allegation comes amidst a heated dispute between Burora and Speaker Among, which has been playing out on social media. Before his suspension from office, Burora had been criticizing the Speaker’s alleged hefty expenditures on his social media handles. The Speaker’s spending habits have been a topic of discussion on social media for the past months.
