The Uganda People’s Defence Air force (UPDAF) has lost its deputy commander Brig Gen Stephen Kiggundu.
According to Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) Spokesperson Brig Gen Felix Kulaigye, Kiggundu died in his bathroom at his official residence in Entebbe on Easter 31st March 2024.
“The UPDF fraternity and Uganda Peoples Defence Forces Air forces will miss Brig Gen Kigundu at this time when his services were most needed to continue strengthening our Air force capabilities.”
“May the soul of the fallen Brig Gen Steven rest in eternal peace.” Added Kulaigye
Kiggundu was born on 3 April 1977 at Bugonga. He joined the UPDF on 27 July 1999 at Hoima. He went on to train as a paratrooper in Israeli, Pilot Air Force management and Oprs, Pilot Combat Trainer, Junior Comd Tactics, conversion pilots course, air Command Staff College.
Brig Kiggundu was appointed a Deputy Commander of Airforce on November 7th 2022 in the mini reshuffle which was carried out by President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni , the commander in Chief of UPDF.
Kiggundu was promoted from the rank of Lt Col to Brig General upon this this appointment.
