KAMPALA– The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) National Management Committee, in its weekly meeting under the stewardship of His Eminence Sheikh Mohammad Ali Waiswa, the Deputy Mufti of Uganda, has appointed Haj Ali Juma Ngobi as Secretary for Finance & Planning an economist and Mr. Kagiiko Imam Shaffi, a holder of a Master’s Degree in Business Administration, as Secretary for Social Services, pending the approval of the relevant Council organs.
These newly appointed officials replace Hon. Sinan Abdu Nsenye and Hon. Counsel Haj Muhammad Ali, respectively.
In his congratulatory remarks delivered on behalf of the Mufti, Sheikh Waiswa explained that the changes were aimed at injecting new ideals and systems into the management, as advised by a technical committee in line with the provisions of the UMSC Constitution.
“UMSC is a religious institution different from other organizations. We are here to serve Almighty Allah with dedication and devotion, and it is Him to reward,” he remarked. Sheikh Waiswa urged the new officials to advocate for professionalism that will further enrich the management with effective systems in service delivery.
He specially thanked the Honourable members of the UMSC General Assembly for embracing the spirit of constitutionalism and paid tribute to the outgoing officials, Hon. Nsenye and Counsel Aluma, for a job well done during their tenure in the Finance & Planning office and Social Services, respectively.
Earlier, Hon. Ngobi and Hon. Kagiiko took oaths administered to them by the UMSC Electoral Commission Chairperson, Hon. Were Abubaker Wandagho.
Meanwhile, Hon. Hadji Abbas Ssekyanzi Muluubya, the UMSC Secretary-General, and his deputy Hon. Counsel Haj Muhammad Ali Aluma, in charge of Finance and Planning, both praised Hon. Nsenye for his outstanding performance during his time in office and urged the incoming officials to tap into his vast experience as they execute their new tenure.
The newly appointed officials pledged to rebrand, rejuvenate, and add value to the already existing team spirit with the zeal to brighten the image and height of the UMSC.
