KAMPALA– President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni using the powers entrusted in him by the constitution has appointed members of the Electoral Commission.
Names of the new members are contained in the letter dated 5th January 2023 addressed to Speaker of Parliament Hon Annet Anita Among.
“In exercise of the Powers vested in the President by Article 60 (11 of the 1995 Constitution, I have appointed persons listed below as Chairperson, Deputy chairperson and Members of the Electoral Commission respectively.” Reads part of the letter
Justice Simon Byabakama Mugenyi has been reappointed as the Chairperson.
The members include; Hajati Aisha Lubega, Stephen Tashobyu, Dr, Sullie Simbia Kayunga, Anthony Oicello, Pameln Htonu Okuti and Robert Kasule Sebunya.
The appointed members have been asked to present their Curriculum Vitaes (CVs) to Parliament pending approval.
Justice Simon Byabakama (Court of Appeal judge) was appointed Chairperson of Electoral Commission on 18th November 2016 , replacing Engineer Badru Kiggundu who had served in the above position for 14-years.
