KAMPALA -The Outgoing Leader of Opposition , Hon Mathias Mpuuga has applauded National Unity Platform (NUP) but most especially the Party President Hon Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu for entrusting him with Leadership opportunity in Parliament.
Mpuuga who was on Friday December 22, 2023 replaced by Nakawa West Member of Parliament , Hon Joel Ssenyonyi , in his message described his term in office as a honor through which he has been able to work with a team of young and multi skilled Political novices.
“Thank you to colleague MPs, the staff and the leadership of Parliament for the backstopping you rendered during my time as LOP. Thank you for being part of my daily challenges and outputs.
I can’t thank enough the people of Nyendo-Mukungwe who sent me to represent what they believe in.” reads part of his message posted on official social media platforms.
He further thanked the people of Uganda for keenly following the work of The Alternative Governmwnt Uganda , routinely challenging them to do more and better and therefore promised to be available whenever and wherever given opportunity to be at the service of Uganda.
Mpuuga who has served in this position for two and half years has now been appointed Commissioner of Parliament replacing Mityana Municipality MP Francis Zaake who has been appointed the shadow Minister for the Presidency and Security and also Deputy Chief Whip
Earlier on , while announcing these changes at a press conference held at NUP headquarters, Hon Kyagulanyi , party president asked people not to look at the move as demotion of Hon. Mpuuga but it’s the party’s plan to change leadership as a sign of democracy.
He commended Hon Mathias Mpuuga for the job well done.
