Ntinda – The Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Hon. Mathias Mpuuga has eulogised the late head of the NUP Elders’ league, William Byarugaba as someone who offered the much needed counsel to the younger generation of leaders.
According to Mpuuga, the late Byarugaba was a gentle elder who gave his all to build a strong and formidable force that the National Unity Platform (NUP) is today.
The LOP’s condolence message was delivered on Thursday during a requiem Service at St. Luke’s Church, Ntinda by Busiro East MP, Medard Lubega Sseggona. Sseggona doubles as NUP’s senior counsel.
“I offer my deepest condolences upon the death of Jajja NUP as many of us fondly knew him. We mourn with you but at the same time celebrate the extraordinary life of this remarkable and humble man,” reads part of LOP’s message to late Byarugaba’s family.
Byarugaba, 58, succumbed to cancer at Boston Medical Center in USA on 17th July.
In his own remarks, Hon. Sseggona commended the late Byarugaba for his courage in pursuit for freedom of Ugandans.
“We are not here to mourn the death of William Byarugaba because he had not died in vain. Instead, we are here to celebrate his life because it is a life well led and lived,” said Sseggona.
