The Country Director of the Human Trafficking Institute (HTI), Mr. Tyler Dunman has today handed over a brand-new motor vehicle to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) to enhance service delivery.
In the official handover ceremony, Mr. Tyler underscored HTI’s partnership with ODPP as a very unique one. He expressed his excitement to contribute towards the great work of the institution. He said the vehicle will assist in reaching victims of human trafficking and foster prosecution and investigation of human trafficking cases, in order to combat the crime in Uganda.
The DPP Jane Frances Abodo appreciated HTI for the vehicle saying it will go along way in facilitating the ODPP in fostering her constitutional mandate.
She further appreciated HTI and Tyler for training Prosecutors and Investigators in the area of prevention of trafficking in persons, and provision of resource materials which has increased the charging rate of suspects to over 400%. As a result, she said, the ODPP is now a benchmark in the fight against human trafficking in other jurisdictions.
The motor vehicle was later handed over to Assistant DPP Racheal Bihkole, Head of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Division
